What a great 15th Anniversary celebration we had! Since it was November, we decided to head to the Caribbean where it was warm. Our destination was Ocho Rios, Jamaica. We chose an all-inclusive, Jewel Dunn’s River Resort. This place was so cool! They made our visit extra special by recognizing our anniversary.
One of our reasons for choosing Jamaica was to eat tons of Jerk Chicken, and that we did. We stopped by the Beach Bar & Grill three or four times a day to pick up some of their Jerk Chicken, so delicious. Another favorite spot for us was Court Jesters Brick Oven Pizza where we ordered thin-crust pizzas “our way”. Weird eating pizza in Jamaica, but it sure hit the spot! This resort did not lack for restaurants – Japanese Hibachi Grill, Italian restaurant, Formal Dining, Coffee & Juice Bar, and the Coral Café Buffet. Of course, we tried all of them. What is a visit to Jamaica without drinking rum? It sure catches up with you…FAST! After the first day of #rumkickmyass, we switched to the local beer, Red Stripe.
For the most part we stayed at the resort relaxing, a rarity for us. It was a lot of fun interacting with the Jamaican locals who worked there. They were all so super friendly and a hoot to talk to. Yah Mon! We took a half day trip to the town of Ocho Rios, and Dunns River Falls. This was the second time climbing the falls, the first was over 40 years ago when I was in Jamaica with my grandma!
Could not have asked for a more perfect getaway for a few days!
