OUTER BANKS CAMPING 2020

We talked about camping in the Outer Banks for SO many years, and with our travel options limited due to Covid, we decided to head up there in the Fall when temperatures were cooler and the crowds would be much smaller. It was one of our best camping trips ever!

Our home base was on Hatteras Island, not too far from the light house. We loved the campground, our site was right on the sound, very close to the water (high tide brought the water to within 10 feet of the camper). Our goal was to eat seafood the entire time we were here and that we did! The shrimp and grits were so delicious we had it multiple times. We took day trips to Kill Devils Hill to see Orville and Wilbur Wright, and the ferry to Ocracoke Island. Ocracoke Island was very cool seeing the wild horses on farms outside of town along the shore. Every evening we made sure we were back to watch the sunset, it was ABSOLUTELY beautiful! People came from all over the campground with lawn chairs to watch the sun set.

This was one of the most relaxing camping trips we have taken the weather was perfect, food was great, and scenery beautiful!
